School Leadership
Principal - Kala Langston

Mrs. Kala Langston has been a dedicated educator for fifteen years and has enjoyed working to grow her students in classroom and self-contained settings. She brings a resilient encouragement and a contagious joy to her roles of principal and athletic director at Clanton Middle School, where she previously served as assistant principal. She is actively involved in building a culture of excellence through her daily example and assistance to teachers and students. Mrs. Langston is an innovative and understanding leader who maintains high expectations for academic achievement and character development all throughout the school and the school year.
Mrs. Langston and her husband, Chad, have three children, a daughter named Kylee Jo and two sons named Case and Cooper. She is active in her church, Clanton First Baptist, and serves in the audio-visual ministry by helping produce the livestreams of the worship services. Mrs. Langston is multi-talented when it comes to athletics. She has played, taught, and coached multiple sports throughout her life. She says that at this point in her life, her main role when it comes to sports is as her children's biggest fan and as the chauffeur to their own practices and games.
Mrs. Langston graduated from Verbena High School before attending Troy University, where she played college softball and earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Math. She then went on to attend the University of West Alabama where she earned her Master's of Education degree in Physical Education and her administrative degree in Instructional Leadership.
Assistant Principal - Houston Powell

Mr. Houston Powell brings twelve years of experience in education and fifteen years of coaching high school football. His passion for students, leadership, and teamwork is a tremendous asset to our Tiger family. He is actively supportive of teacher and student needs, and he works each day to help lead Clanton Middle School in a positive direction by clearly stating his expectations, maintaining high standards for performance and compliance, and consistently enforcing school rules and board policies fairly and equally for everyone at Clanton Middle School.
Mr. Powell and his wife, Taylor, have three children, two daughters named Madalyn and Laney and a son named Hudson. He and his family attend Boone’s Chapel Baptist Church in Prattville where they are active in several different ministries. Mr. Powell loves spending time at the lake, where he enjoys boating and duck hunting.
Mr. Powell graduated from Marbury High School before attending the University of Alabama, where he played baseball and earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Kinesiology and his administrative Master’s of Education degree in Instructional Leadership. Mr. Powell also likes to go by Coach Powell due to his background in athletics, with him playing football and baseball in high school, playing baseball in college, and then coaching football and even teaching physical education classes once he had begun his career in K-12 education.
