FCCLA stands for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. The mission of this student organization is to promote personal growth and leadership skills through Family and Consumer Sciences classes and community service projects. At Clanton Middle School, FCCLA is available for 8th grade students who are enrolled in Family and Consumer Sciences classes. The community service projects vary each school year. Some examples of past projects are:
· Baking dog biscuits for the Chilton County Humane Shelter
· Making handmade cards for nursing home residents
· Creating games and festivities for special CMS students
There is a $25 fee to join FCCLA which covers the cost of state and national affiliation as well as a small amount for local dues. To find out more about FCCLA please visit their website at www.fcclainc.org.
