School Leadership
Principal - Tony Byrd
Mr. Tony Byrd has been in education for twenty-eight years and has served in a variety of roles and environments during that time. These experiences have built him into an administrator who works hard to meet student and teacher needs using the knowledge and understanding he gained in each of those positions. His goal at Clanton Middle is to maintain a high standard in academics and character amongst his students, his faculty, his staff, and himself.
Mr. Byrd is a man who adores his wife, loves Jesus, and pulls for the Crimson Tide. He is the proud father of two sons--Noah and Jonah--and the proud Papa to a grandson named Zeke and a granddaughter named Lakelynn. His afternoon arrival at home is eagerly awaited each day by the cutest kitten in the world, Mia Grace, who doesn't believe that she is indeed a cat. Mr. Byrd has a love/hate relationship with the game of golf and participates in tournaments in order to better his skills at the sport.
Mr. Byrd graduated from Verbena High School before earning his Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology with a double minor in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Auburn University at Montgomery. He then attended the University of Montevallo and earned a Master's of Education Degree in social science as well as a degree in Educational Administration.
